Help: EpicMount Addon: How to install it.
Updated on 2008/04/19

FOR WINDOWS USERS:

Windows users can use a setup application to easily get the EpicMount addon installed.
The installer can be downloaded here:
http://epicmount.com/addons/epicmount.exe

FOR MACINTOSH USERS (and Windows users who don't trust the .exe):

In case you are running on a Macintosh, or you are a Windows user who doesn't trust the installer executable, you can follow these steps by downloading and installing the addon by hand.

Step 1 - Download the addon

The addon can be found here: http://epicmount.com/addons/epicmount.zip. Download this file to your desktop.

Step 2 - "Unzip the addon"

The epicmount.zip file is a ZIP compressed file. Your web browser may have already "unzip" (i.e. extracted the files) the file for you. If not, simply opening the epicmount.zip will do this as well. Once this is done, there should be an EpicMount folder with some files in it.

Step 3 - Open your WoW folder

For PC users, the typical default install path is:

C:\Program Files\World Of Warcraft

For Macintosh users, the typical default install path is:

Macintosh HD (or whatever you named your hard drive)/Applications/World Of Warcraft

Step 4 - Create a folder called Interface if it does not exist

Go ahead and create the Interface folder. There might be one already there, do not remove it if it does exist.

Step 5 - Open the Interface folder and create another one called AddOns

Like Step 4, create the AddOns folder if it does not already exist.

Step 6 - Open the AddOns folder

The AddOns folder is where the EpicMount addon will live. Also, other addons you choose to install in the future will live in this folder as well.

Step 7 - Copy or Move the EpicMount directory into the AddOns folder

When you extracted the epicmount.zip, it contained a EpicMount folder and some files. Take the EpicMount folder itself (not the epicmount.zip file) and move or copy the folder into the AddOns folder.

Step 8 - Check your work

The folder layout should be the AddOns folder with an EpicMount folder within it. And within the EpicMount Folder, the EpicMount files (EpicMount.lua, EpicMount.toc, localization.lua, etc.)

The folder layout should look something like this:
The correct folder layout
  • World Of Warcraft
    • Interface
      • AddOns
        • EpicMount
          • EpicMount.lua
          • EpicMount.toc
          • README.txt
          • localization.lua
          • .. more files...
There is the EpicMount folder in the AddOns folder. All the EpicMount.* files are WITHIN the EpicMount folder.
The wrong folder layout
  • World Of Warcraft
    • Interface
      • AddOns
        • EpicMount.lua
        • EpicMount.toc
        • .. more files...
The EpicMount files are NOT within an EpicMount folder to import.
